I haven't talked too much about the English 101 class that I am teaching this fall. Because the summer has been so awful, I have been sort of putting it out of my mind. I've never enjoyed teaching 101, but I have learned to make it more interesting and to adapt it in ways that make it more exciting for me and for the students. It sounds like the texts you're working with will hopefully be really engaging. "Comp Camp" sounds kind of insane, though. I mean, I'm sure that you will learn totally useful & important things, but having it for that many hours a day seems rather overwhelming and maybe unnecessary. Hmm. Lots of love. xoxo

yeah, I am sort of nervous about it. It isn't really the most fun to take or to teach, but I am hoping that there will be ways to adapt it so it is more engaging. I also hope that I get a good time. I have this nightmare that I will get a 7:30am class or something.

& "comp camp" sounds absolutely insane. I can see meeting a either a couple times for that many hours or every day for just 2-3 hours, but a 40+ hour week of sitting in a classroom talking about English 101 sounds crazy. I have to take a seminar the entire quarter on teaching composition, and there are weekly English 101 meetings and English Department meetings that we are required to attend all year. I hope "comp camp" isn't as bad as I imagine it to be.

I cant wait to see my BFFs tomorrow!

Oh, man, I taught at 730 am for two semesters in a row and it was HORRID. NIC is so cheap that they didn't even turn the heat on until 8 am, and this was in the middle of the winter. Ugh. Horrible.
& Yeah, it seems like all of that 101/teaching comp talk might be overwhelming and a bit much. I hope it's okay!
