Advanced geekery of the ittybitty

So I've been on a roll lately. In the last few months I've really fleshed out my itty bitty and obsolete computers collection. From before, I've had:

  • Sharp Zaurus SL-5500 - I guess you could argue that this doesn't really belong in the list, but it was always more of a itsybitsy computer than a PDA. Alas, the software community abandoned this ( Read more... )

Was that HP the one that had the pointer device that was mouse-ish mounted on semi-flexible strips?

Yep, the tethered mouse. The "tail" was a strip of uninsulated flexi circuit board, that had strips that rode under contact fingers just inside the hole in the side of the case.

We've relocated to the Left Coast, specifically the Portland metro area. The retro scene is huge out here, especially Commodore.

Earl, the individual who runs this podcast regularly appears at the local Commodore users group, but he has a wide range of interests.

Epson used to have a huge facility in this area in the 80s, and Earl was involved with tech support on the HX-20 "laptop". How's *that* for retro geek cred? :)
