I read this a while ago, I remember laughing though it but yes. Everyone was so passive about what was going on. Hopefully the core characters (Darcy and Elizabeth) will take a more active role in the mini series.

*nods* Everyone just kind of sat around and it all got wrapped up because of a last-minute confession that no one prompted.

If I remember correctly, and I could be wrong, but P.D. James says something about Lydia being upset with Elizabeth because Darcy wouldn't lend them money. That said, I have always found Lydia to be unsympathetic - but then we are supposed to find her childish and obnoxious when she's up against against Jane and Elizabeth.

I was confused about that bit, because I think later on Darcy and the Colonel were talking about how both Elizabeth and Jane were probably giving Lydia some money. I don't know, it just all seemed sort of odd.

Yeah, I remember being pretty unimpressed by that book too, although my biggest issue with it was the way they made Colonel Fitzwilliam a creepy stalker about Georgiana as a red herring to make it look like he might've done it. I mean, I don't remember THAT much about the character from the novel, but I remember enough to know that wasn't remotely in character.

Pity, because I always thought I liked PD James. Although, granted, I don't think I ever actually read any of her novels, just watched the BBC adaptations with my parents on PBS when I was a kid. *g*
