People didn't believe that? Really? Because who else would she be; even the BBC called her "significant" in John and Sherlock's lives, which isn't an outright admission, but come on. (Well and I had also read a few spoilers from people who were on the set, so, yeah.)

Some are/were saying AA isn't playing Mary "Morsten" but Mary "Moran".

Now that would be a twist!!! I wouldn't put it past them, and you know AA would get a kick out of playing someone evil. :D

I'd prefer she'd be just Mary Morsten, but I would laugh if she's Moran given all the preemptive slash written about Moran.

Oh, and I've seen the youtube of where the "Mary" is being shouted, and I guess maybe you could get a Harry out of it, but it does sound like Mary to me.

Isn't it actually Sebastian Moran (who has a military rank that...is...(come on brain work)...Colonel....like Mustard)? Were people thinking Moran's gender was going to change? Or was this a fandom thing?

I realise my inner shipper and my inner "Mary! Canon!" are battling it out at the mo', but all that speculation mentioned above (I couldn't decide with convo to jump in on) just hurts my head! I mean, really people? Get a grip and wait for the story to be told!

XD The day fandom stops speculating will be the day that something really amazing happens. (Brain not working at the moment.) It's especially hilarious when it comes to BBC Sherlock since there's so very little to go on.
