It sucks for the west coast! I'm glad for my eastern time zone location and the TVU player that will stream the BBC 2 feed.

I have had real string cheese before! It was delicious! And.. stringy! And very salty but that is acceptable because I love salt. Mmm mmm sodium.

I'm trying to concoct a way to watch the Olympics tonight. I don't think it's happening. Hmf.

I... like celery, actually. It is a pointless food, but it makse such a satisfying crunch.

MMMMMM. Yes! Real string cheese is salty and dry.

Yeah, but you're Canadian! You've gotta watch!

I think it all goes back to as a kid we had to eat celery and peanut butter instead of things like cookies. Which is good an all, but to this day I can't stand celery and I only tolerate peanut butter.

It was delicious. It was at my friend's house, and his mom's a vegan or vegetarian or something so I suspect it came from some specialty food store somewhere. But that's the only time I've ever had it, and we did not sell it when I worked at the grocery store, despite our fairly impressive selection.

I KNOW. I accepted this dinner invite like a month ago without realizing, lol.

Omg, with raisins? ANTS ON A LOG? I hated that, they used to try and give it to us at Brownies (um... is Brownies Canadian?)

I remember the good stuff from when I was a kid - back before absolutely everything was processed and pumped full of chemicals.

And I forgot about the raisins. I don't like raisins either. :D

You can't by any chance watch it live on Hulu or something, can you?

Hmmm. Hulu's directing me to NBC's site. I wonder if they'll have it...

SO ANGRY WITH NBC.

Not only are they tape delaying it for us, but they've actually blocked CTV (the Canadian Olympics station) from letting Americans watch it live on the internet. What the hell, NBC? Pretty much the entire world gets to watch the opening ceremony live...except us.

Really? Was that NBC or was it just the standard regional copyright issue which is the bane of my tv-watching existence?

According to my local newspaper NBC is actually blocking it. I got on CTV's website yesterday and was able to play a couple of other videos just fine, but sports videos were a no no.

So here on the West Coast we finally finally have a live event in the same time zone. What does NBC do? TAPE DELAYS IT FOR 3 HOURS.

*fumes right with you* This is exactly what NBC did during the Summer Olympics. Many of the swim finals occurred during PST's primetime (8-9pm) so they could've totally aired it live for us. But NOPE! They held on to that footage until 11-bleeping-o'clock. Beyond ridiculous.

You know, I honestly had no clue you felt so strongly about string cheese. How did I manage to miss your rant from 5 years ago? EDIT: Ah, after clicking the link, I see it isn't actually YOU ranting. Heh.

BAH! And it's not like NBC doesn't have enough cable channels! They could have aired it there if they didn't want to air it on the main channel.

And URG. I'd forgotten about NBC's style of covering the Olympics. Instead of doing anything live, they feel the need to repackage it. :P

:D I'm surprised I haven't ranted about it before, but maybe it's one of those posts I wind up deleting after I type it. XD

(I did find an email to my brother on the subject, and we're of the same mind - we got the good stuff as kids and now we can't find it.)
