Hee! I could just imagine Tyrion being all "Oh, this is typical" about that! Thanks so much for reading; I'm pleased it was a nice start to your day.

Perfection. Everyone's in character and I've always loved the idea of Sansa having twins (although in my head they're Peytr's. what happens to him in your canon, anyway?).

I'm so pleased you feel everyone's in-character; I felt more confident writing Tyrion than Sansa, because jumping ahead in the future like this made it difficult to gauge exactly where she'd be emotionally, especially with no real head!canon about what all went down for her after AFFC. (I don't really have a backstory for Petyr here; though I might have been thinking a little of a fic by just_a_dram in which Sansa ended up killing him...

Thanks so much for reading and for your lovely comments. Also, your icon? Rocks. :D

This so isn't the point, but uh, I really like this: when he had returned from his exile and Ser Jaime had returned her to him. Because, I love knowing that Jaime fulfilled his vow as best he could. Poor Jaime. (I'm required to say that at least once a day. If there was a hint of Theon in this, I could also whip out the requisite "Poor Theon".)

Oh! And also: She hoped Jaime was right, strange as it was to think so about the man who had crippled her brother with the intent of killing him. Jaime so needs to be embraced by his good sister. Right? All three of these people need loving families ( ... )

Ha! I knew you'd get a wee bit distracted by Jaime. ;) I haven't really decided what he's doing in this little ficverse, but I think he's clinging to the two people who might best be able to give him a fair chance. And how sad that one of them is the sister of a boy he tried to kill. :( Poor Jaime, indeed!

I'm so pleased you were surprised by Sansa's issues here; I didn't want to go the more obvious route of Sansa hopes her children aren't dwarves but will love them anyway, because for one thing I wanted to show how far she'd come, so I thought of what other Lannister issues she might have to overcome--because I think that's her big thing with Tyrion even in the books, her conflict between whether he's being kind to her or if it's all a trick--and I think the reminder of what the whole family used to stand for would be too much for her. And yes, that hint that she's still got that naive part is here, too. Very pleased you think it worked!

Thanks very much for reading again and for your lovely comments. :)

*le sigh* I'm very predictable. :)

Yeah, it's a real sign of how inverted his universe has become.

her conflict between whether he's being kind to her or if it's all a trick

That makes me so sad in the books, because we know it's not a trick...it seems obvious to us because we know him, but she doesn't and you can see where a young girl would be wary and terrified of trusting him.

You'd expect her to trust Petyr, who sells himself as her mother's friend, when he's the real snake in the grass. I wonder if she'll ever find out about Petyr's role in Ned's fall or the lies he spread about Cat. I think he'll meet his end if she does.

Yeah, it's a real sign of how inverted his universe has become.

I think that's how things are going to have to play out in this series: everyone's going to be forming alliances with people who have wounded them in the past. Maybe it'll all be about forgiveness in the end?

it seems obvious to us because we know him, but she doesn't and you can see where a young girl would be wary and terrified of trusting him.

It's easy to forget, isn't it, that not all the characters know all the other characters as well as we do!

I think he'll meet his end if she does.

Your fic where Sansa killed him was in the back of my mind when I wrote this. I think that might become my head!canon, lol.

So as you know, I have FEELINGS about this fic. You write a Sansa and Tyrion that are entirely my future Sansa and Tyrion, and the fact that you can see them being happy like this - happy and loved and still brittle - really fills me with hope for these two. <3

Tyrion leaned in and cupped her cheek as he pressed a kiss to her lips that was as sweet as any Sansa had ever dreamed of receiving from one of her shining knights or princes or kings. For her dreams had never come close to touching what it would feel like to love a man for reasons deeper than the beauty of his face or the magnificence of his form, or to make a child--children--with him.

I know I just quoted an entire paragraph, but seriously. MY HEART. You just captured everything I love about these two and put it RIGHT HERE for me to read. You do Tyrion's self-deprecation just right, and I love than Sansa has learned to deal with it so deftly.

I always go on about how these two can heal each other - to a point - and it's clear here that they have, although there's ( ... )

Aw, thanks for coming back and commenting, dear! I'm so, so happy that you feel I've got a handle on this pairing and their fragile emotions. I really do love writing them and am looking forward to more, including backing up in their relationship. They've just got so much depth and so much they can be to each other, and I think they have the real makings of a Westerosi Power Couple!

it was absurd to be conscious of her state of undress in front of her husband.

Women are WEIRD :P

The babies sound adorable :)

He'd just come from drinking with Ser Jaime

He keeps saying/thinking that. It sounds weird to me that he’s giving his brother the title, even in his head.

But she did not wish to think of Petyr now.

Nor ever, I should think ;)

"Truly, I never thought it. I was so relieved that the gods--" She caught herself, but not soon enough.

"Had not cursed you with a dwarf child," he finished for her, flatly. "You mustn't be afraid to tell me the truth, my lady. Especially when I already know it."

"You don't know. "It's not the truth."

Mm, has Sansa mastered the art of lying now? Or is she really truthful?
No matter what though, she’s right. Tyrion can NOT know her actual thoughts.

It's so bloody absurd, if you don't know our family history, that anyone would rather give birth to a dwarf than a blond."

*laughs* Ah, you write them well together.

"I think the point isn't so much who they take after ( ... )

This is from Sansa's POV, actually, so she's the one thinking of him as Ser Jaime, not Tyrion. And she only does it half the time. Old habits and all. I used it to show that the full trust of him isn't quite there.

has Sansa mastered the art of lying now? Or is she really truthful? No matter what though, she’s right. Tyrion can NOT know her actual thoughts.

No, Sansa is, indeed being truthful here. Sansa has learned to love Tyrion, but she still has all these painful memories of Joffrey and Cersei and I think it would be really hard for her to deal with a child who looked like the people who did so much wrong to her and her family.

Anyway! Very pleased you liked the fic! Thanks for reading and commenting. Merry Christmas!

Oh wow, I don't know why I thought the POVs were flip-flopping. In that case, it makes sense that Sansa was thinking that way.
AND it makes sense that she doesn't fully trust him, especially with the mention of what he did to Bran.

Sansa has learned to love Tyrion,

Again, weird thoughts :P

I don't blame her for not wanting her children to look like Cersei [and Jaime].

And a very Merry Christmas to you!! :)
