This review's going to be a two-parter

"Please believe me when I say you're beautiful no matter what colour hair you've got."

Aww. She should believe him. :D

Remus ought to be familiar enough to say things like, Do you want to go home?

Normally he did. That was what niggled.

Oh. I don't like what he said then. He really must be very out of it. :(

The Longbottom boy -- Neville, Tonks remembered from the Daily Prophet stories about the Department of Mysteries battle -- stopped short, mouth falling open as he saw Tonks.

Poor Neville, and poor Tonks, not being able to control her hair well.

"What a pity that the Ministry have not seen the value of effective Defence Against the Dark Arts instructors such as yourself during these dark times."

I love that we get to see more of Neville's gran. She's such a sweet lady and very blunt about her feelings. I agree with her on this one. I just love how she takes Tonks off-guard with her statements.

"I thought only former pranksters secretly liked mischievous students best ( ... )

After that, I'm sure he will be.

The banter between Remus & Tonks about being a fuddy-duddy and Mad-Eye and Nymphadora was great. I love that their secret is out with the twins and they can all joke together.

Her boyfriend, Remus. Former prefect, professor, powerful wizard, respected Order member…

Wearing a deep purple dress.

A silk dress.

Holy crap, that's freaking hilarious! And high-heels! He can walk in them, huh? Why do I get the feeling James & Sirius pranked him in a similar way once? ;) Oh this is hilarious.
I don't know, I don't THINK it's worse than being starkers.
But oh so much better than Kreacher's loincloth.

"Indeed. But I admire a woman who's a few Bertie Botts short of a bag. Makes me feel better about getting myself into situations like this."

Which is exactly why she's perfect for him :)
I like that her hair changed to purple!

A strapless dragonhide dress doesn't sound too comfortable. I like that Remus is enjoying the sight though ;)
That's hilarious that Tonks said that out loud. Hehe

Tonks whipped ( ... )

As you mentioned in the previous chapter, yes, Tonks' hair seems to be changing based on where her mind/emotions are fixed -- which is, again, a different take for me because other times I've just had her lose the ability to morph. But I do think there's a case to be made for both, and I wanted to play with just what a state Tonks might have been before Remus left, and that his leaving was the last straw for her; she needed his support to get through what she was experiencing on the battlefield, and then he wasn't there, and it was too much ( ... )

Tonks' hair change based on her emotions is an interesting way to go, and would make a lot of sense. I like the story you based around that.

That is pretty frightening, Remus in drag being the image that inspired the fic, but weirder things have happened.
After all, Rowling put [boggart] Snape in drag. I can see Remus putting on a dress for a laugh more than Snape.

Out of habit, she slipped her hand into his, threading their fingers together -- only to realise, as his eyes rounded slightly, that Fred and George were part of the younger set they'd avoided letting on about their relationship to.

Of course Fred and George would have a clue, even without the hand-hold. What else would two Order members be doing out and about at that time of the night? If they were on assignment, it wouldn’t be a good idea to be walking around Hogsmeade like they were out in the open. Plus, it’s the twins! You can’t get anything over on them.

Really enjoyed the exchanges between Remus and all the kids here. I'm sure that with him as a teacher, even a fraidy-cat like me coule survive a DADA class. I’m glad the twins could cheer them up…and inspire them. I was hoping they’d be one of the first (at least of the kids) to find out about their relationship.

Hee! Fred and George would totally get it, I always thought that and just had to write this. I'm so glad you liked the dynamic between them and their former (and favorite!) prof. Thanks for commenting.
