happy friday, and holiday open house!

So it's become clear to me that despite good intentions, I'm never going to post for seven days in a row of anything ever, let alone right before Christmas. But! I remember I did something like this a few years ago, and I thought I'd try it again if anyone is actually hanging around LJ this late in December ( Read more... )

I thought back to the beginning of September. Back to the height of harvest and the beginning of hunting season, back to the yearly friction between swathers and combines sharing the road with shiny SUVs sporting out of county plates. Back to the spike in calls about trespassers in camouflage and high-visibility orange spooking cattle and leaving pasture gates open ( ... )

I'm not quite sure - why is everyone so fixated on having to post every day? Where in the rules does it say so? Why putting so much pressure onto yourself? Why not just post, when you have something interesting or funny to share? That's what I do anyway.

I'm just puzzled as I see that quite a lot!

Ha! No, in this case it's just that someone had suggested doing a "post once a day" thing for a week in December, and I commented to say, "Oh, hey, that's a great idea because of course I miss LJ," and then real life said, "HAHAHAHAHA you foolish woman." *g*

I finally got a chance to look through your whole post from the Christmas Market the other day - that looks so beautiful! I appreciate you all in Germany passing Christmas trees and other lovely decorating traditions on to the rest of us. :)

Apparently, before Christmas I did not find time to reply to your comment, so I am doing it now ;)

Thank you! I was in London after Christmas and they still had their Christmas market going on - I need to do a picture post with all the things I photographed there. The signs were all in German LOL! I felt like at home. But the rest of the market was more like a fair, with lots of carousels and loud music. And an ice rink! That was lovely. There also was an ice sculpture show which we really would have loved to visit, but you needed to buy tickets way ahead in time for a certain date.

Ooh, fudge! Yum. That looks fabulous.

Can't remember if I've posted this recipe before, but it's easy and very very yummy:

German Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies. I have been known to add pecans, too! :)
