1. Psych is back July 14! I mean, I'm still ready for it to be fall because I miss my other shows (and seriously, you guys, it has been FOREVER since Sanctuary ended already, this is ridiculous), but Dule' Hill back on my television on a weekly basis helps with the pain. Yes ( Read more... )

You do realize that you are now required to throw a party today, right?

2.I love Dixon in those scenes, but then you already knew that. :)
So you figure, "Hell, three can't be much worse than two," right? What you don't realize is, your brain is fried because you haven't slept.

*giggles hysterically*

I didn't say I would throw a party right away. I just said I would throw one. I have time for you to plan it.

I just can't get over the suppressed glee with which Dixon says two-headed aliens. *dies laughing*

*sigh* I know...I catch SG-1 on TV and sit and watch it and my husband gives me perplexed looks..."didn't I buy all of those for you on dvd? Why are you watching it on tv with commercials ( ... )

Also, there is currently not a DVD player hooked up to the TV (there was a problem with a power outlet, but now there is just a problem with me being too absentminded to buy a new power strip or something), so I mostly only re-watch stuff on my computer. Heh.

Thanks for the Castle pointers! Possibly I needed some reassurance that this was the sort of guy that grows on you - I have learned to love Tony on NCIS and he is pretty damn obnoxious. So I will stick with it. :)

Yeah...Castle is much gentler and lighter than Tony on NCIS (also a favorite show). Castle's behavior is as much a defense mechanism as Tony's, but his true self shines through in family scenes with his daughter... and he is really good in season two at giving those "looks" to Beckett. Intense stuff glimmers around the playfulness.

They lack the tangible intensity that Jack and Sam have, but their "relationship" is being held up by personal baggage, not regulations... They are getting there emotionally slowly.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy more as you watch. ;-)

I can't give you recs of where to start with, but I did find that I warmed up to Castle after getting to know him for a while. I think it's kind of the point--you're supposed to find him intriguing but obnoxious at first!

Hee. Reassurance that it's worth the effort of investing in the character is good, too. I'll keep at it!

This. And you get those glimpses, especially when his with his daughter, and you start to realize that there's so much more going on underneath, which is a big part of the appeal. For sure you have to watch "Fool Me Once" where there's a pretty fun reference to Firefly (NF puts the coat and boots on ftw!). The season 1 finale and start of season 2 was wonderful- learning more depth of character and backstory and also Robert Picardo so you know you can't go wrong! I think you just need to plow through and he will grow on you, believe me. Kinda like DiNozzo, or maybe even a less geeky McKay.

Hee. Well, surely I can stick with it long enough to get to Picardo?? Or maybe skip there. ;) I'll try again from the beginning!

I'll go with two-headed aliens. One head good, one head bad.

OMG, I LOVE Dixon and that scene. I so so so wished that TPTB would have given Adam Baldwin a full-time job as Dixon in S9-10 instead of inventing the Cameron Mitchell character. That or moved Reynolds over to SG1. *le sigh*

Er, I think my love for Nathan Fillion got me over any dislike of Castle at the beginning, but then I also fell for him pretty fast because of the amazing way Castle is with his daughter and mom. I think if you just keep in mind those scenes, and understand that the pompous act is an act, you'll warm up fast!

I really really need this AU like right now. I don't suppose you'd like to write it for me??

I bought it on itunes and watched season one from the beginning, then caught up on season 2 via tivo and ch131.com. The big selling point being NF, or course, and a big push from L and our M. And I second the big <3 moments early on being his relationship with his most awesome daughter and his mom. It takes a little time for Castle and Beckett to find their groove. Also I completely agree with the growing on you like Tony. A lot like Tony, if he had a fabulously wonderful teenage daughter and a very quirky mom.

So, probably starting from the beginning on this one? It's in my Netflix queue, so eventually it will show up. :)

lol. I'm not sure the universe is ready for Tony to have a teenager!
