It is said that the average American male, who also happens to be sports crazy, divides a calendar year into periods devoted to following round the year sporting events - MLB, NFL, NBA, the golfing season, college football et al. It is no wonder then, that almost every day is "match-day" for the average American male ( Read more... )

:), I read the quoted article. I liked his take on the episode. There is also a book Men in While by Mukul Kesavan. Have you read it ?

He was spot-on with his perspective on the episode. Atleast as far as Atherton's views are concerned.

Mukul's book has been on my to-buy list for a while:). It's high time. Have you read it? If yes, how did you find it?

We need a Dravid ton. I think, bounce or no bounce, Kumble is past it, though we will still need him for the last 4 wickets. Sreesanth would be served well, if Kumble gave him a talking-to.

And yes, agree. Mukul writes quite well indeed.

Yep, here's to an Indian victory! :)

Kumble is good, but his loss of pace is noticeable. And as you rightly said, we could use him to polish off the tail - he's been quite good that way , none of the last 4 tailenders could play him too well, except Sidebottom.

To an Indian victory it is:)

I too was reminded of Lee when I read Atherton's ridiculous comments.

Let's hope for a great performance from our team, and another great test match!

It's convenient for some people to use logic the way Atherton does. And also easy to judge Lee as a better human being. Sree is immature, no doubt, but he comes across as a proud cricketer who genuinely wants to do well for India. Hopefully, we'll see him perform better with the ball in this match.

nice one,

All said and done, the guy needs to pick up some wickets as well.
Guys like brett lee show loads of aggression but they have their wickets as a fallback.

Had Sreesanth picked up a couple all this discussion would be long forgotten....

B Lee 10 1 36 2 3.60 (1nb, 1w)

and then apna sreesanth

S Sreesanth 12 7 16 1 1.33 &
S Sreesanth 21 2 60 0 2.85 (5nb, 3w)
