Mar 18, 2008 14:39

So,  I asked you all what you would like me to write about here in my lj, and the biggest request so far was for our birth story.  It's really long, but please keep in mind the fact that the labor lasted for 38 hours.  I don't know if lj has a limit on how long a post can be, but I think I may have exceeded it.  We'll see.  If it doesn't fit, I'll ( Read more... )

Ha, ha. You read it as I was editing. It should flow a little better now, and I added in a few things I remembered after posting it.

Anyway. Your birth story seemed so different from mine. What did you identify with?

Rob and I were talking about "crossover vehicles" yesterday, and I told him me might need to get one when we adopted the rest of our kids. ;-) So, yeah. Definitely not ready for round two yet.

The weird thing is that I never did see a mucous plug. (I hate, hate, hate that term.)

Me too!

What a long 2 days... I hope that's not what I'm in for!

This hospital has a tradition where the dad (or othrer loved one) pushes a button on the way to recovery. This causes a chime to ring all ovwe the hospital to announce that there's been a birth.

That is nifty as hell.

Such an amazing story. I'm impressed. I'm sorry it was so hard, but you're so strong.

Let me make a point here. The "urge to push" is a biological imperative that ensures the survival of the species. Being told not to push is sort of like being told not to breathe.

Oh! They had me do that, too! That was so frustrating. The "urge" to push was really all my muscles contracting and me trying to lessen the amount they pushed. ;)

It was great to get to read your (and Dot's) birth story. I'm glad that you got to have your wishes respected throughout your labor, and that you were able to push Dot out with only six contractions! :D
