Caught the advert for “Newsnight” last night, with Paxman saying something along the lines of, “With large US owned financial institutions crashing, what else is there but a sliver lining?”

I'm sorry to hear the US mess is causing you concern. I hope the company can survive so that you in the profitable area can remain on. Sending best wishes that it all works out for you. *hugs*

Just out of curiosity, what did Paxman say was the silver lining?

The US government has lent us a vast amount of money to give us time to get thing sorted. For the moment, I'm still employed!

We're praying for what my friend Laura describes as "sane management and that the company doesn't freak out and start shedding people when it is essentially stable and that, failing that, your efforts to network for a new job (which should probably start now) are fantastically successful and it all turns out to have been for the best, or that you suddenly find yourself inheriting a large sum from a relative you didn't even know you had - the crazy hermit Uncle Olaf who lives in a small hovel by the Dee".
