This morning's Art Hour - a head study of Heidi Adelheide Schulmeyer. Not a super good likeness but a technically good drawing. Additionally, it obeys the Divine Proportion rules that I've been trying very hard to incorporate into my compositions. She's also slated to be my model for my Madonna in my next painting. I've been mulling over what I want to paint for next year's A&S and have decided on a Madonna and Child with Angel theme. It's consistent with the time period (1500 - 1525), it's a popular theme, and there are a lot of examples from period. This morning's Art Hour was spent finishing this third still-life. It's not completely finished but I had a great idea for a new composition, last night, and I want to move on to that. So, this current one? Finished.

Along with drape, I want to work on composition of various objects in drawings. For this one, I used my handy golden ratio template and laid the angles of the objects along several of the main lines. The folds of the drape run along some of the other main lines. There are also different textures. So this should be a fun drawing to work through.

Another still-life, started during lunch hour and finished this evening. This one is in charcoal, which I like because it gets nice and dark but dislike because it is super messy.

Just finished the still-life for this week. I continue to like graphite for its precision but am less than thrilled with it for other reasons. It doesn't get nearly as dark as I would like it. For next week's still-life, I may switch to charcoal.

This week is my last week of class and we've been working on a four-session long pose. I finished yesterday and still have Friday to do some studies on color or whatever else I want. Which is usually how it works. I can't seem to maintain any interest in a drawing after about three sessions. Need to work on that.

The model didn't show up for this last day. Which is a bummer. I was really excited about this drawing. She called, right before class to say that she would be half an hour late.
