Calculus II The 5TH Time Around

Jun 21, 2007 14:50

For the last two years, I've taken Calculus II four times and I failed the course each time. I guess I break that stereotype of Asians being very good at math. LOL. When Calculus II was offered this summer, I decided to take it again since it is required in my curriculum. If I don't pass it this summer then I would have to stay another year in ( Read more... )

Congrats!!! I stopped after Pre-Calculus. I'm decent at faking my way through math and tend to forget most of it immediately after learning it. It's amazing how little math you actually end up using in real world situations.

Still, diligence is a wonderful thing. Most of us give up far too easily! Kudos for sticking with it til the end!!

Thanks, man. I'm pretty much the same way, but I think the retention is pretty much the same for most people if they stop using it. I pretty much faked my way up to Calculus II myself and then it was really difficult from then. After taking it, I really don't think you can fake through this course and it really forces you to actually have to think and understand what is going on. It was way past make or break time for this course and I really wanted it, so I think that also helped.

I took pre-Calculus in high school, and then took one day of calculus. I couldn't understand the review of things I was supposed to know before I took Calculus, so I opted out of it and haven't taken any math since.

I survived.

Calculus isn't bad. I think my professor and I determined that I just need extra time when doing the exams since in the past we were only given a fixed time. Now I have as much time as I need and it dramatically made a difference. I love intergration and limits are ok, work force is slight confusing.

I next two math course that I hae to take are Discrete Math and Applied Math. Then I'll be done for math course. ^_^

I remember you telling me that at Bear Trek. I don't think it's dorky, and if you can do that is awesome. I think statistics would be more interesting, but I'm not required to take that course.

Statistics classes can be more practical and "down to earth" than other math classes. Glad you more than passed, Jeff!
