Oops. I'm on the town sewer system, but had a problem with a houseful of guests in town for a wedding. :-) Plumbers are expensive on the weekend. If it were just me, I could've used the shower at work for a day or two, but no...

That totally sucks. I don't know if I could comfortably poo in a port-o-pot every morning.
At least your house is awesome! I mean really really awesome. My husband and I are buying a house built in 1900 that has a private well but is connected to the public sewer system. Hopefully it'll save a lot of headache because my parents have a septic tank and they can never get it fully pumped because it's so old, it might collapse if they do.

Thanks. My wife really loves older homes, and I like them too. They have tons of character and I really couldn't stand living in a cookie cutter house. Wait a minute, did you just let me in on the super secret exciting news you didn't want to share until everything was finalized? Congratulations

Yeah, that is the secret! I've been letting it slip a lot but I'm afraid that declaring it to the public (i.e. the Internet) will jinx it and it won't settle. We still have to hear the CDA conditions because they might call for some repairs and since the sellers are douchebags, they already said they wouldn't fix anything that needed to be fixed. Hopefully if it's something little like a GFI outlet, and we've already come this far, they'll do it so we don't lose it over something tiny. We know our home inspector, though, so we told him not to mark the little things that Rob can easily fix once we move in.

I guess I should clarify, that the free part is just some pieces of the upgrade. It may be that replacing the tank would not be included. Still, it seems a good deal.
