Sometimes just too Scandosotan for my own good

I'm reading a history of the papacy, and I keep having two problems:

1. I keep thinking "Viterbo" is a misprint for "Ytterbo."
2. I keep forgetting that they named Tivoli Gardens after somewhere else, so whenever they mention the pope fleeing to Tivoli or proceeding to Tivoli or whatever, I picture him on the giant swings. Wheee!

pure silliness, dead vikings are lots of fun

Whee!

(Wouldn't his miter fly off, though? I guess maybe they have special straps or miter-glue for that sort of risk...)

I think they have to park their murres before entering an amusement park. That's when they just wear the color-coded beanies.

No, the mitre is key to the mental image, I feel. Also the clerical robes flapping around their legs.

Most recent Popes would have benefitted enormously by being made to swing on the giant swings at least once a month.

Several old-time ones also, and several more would have just liked it a lot.

The Pope drives a late-60s Maserati? ...wait: what?
