I just re-watched Solaris.

Before I get into how I liked it, I should probably explain how I happened upon this movie.

Pete Wall is a good friend and fellow CS graduate from Bethel and one day in the lab I noticed him with a Solaris DVD. I consider Pete to have good taste in movies and so I was curious and asked him if the film was good. He ( Read more... )

I thought Pete was the only other person I knew who didn't think it sucked. It's nice to know there are other people don't need a ton of crazy drama to see a movie as good. - Jeremy

Yeah, it's frustrating when all people want to watch are fast-paced run-of-the-mill movies. Not that I don't enjoy those too... it's just that some times I like to watch and wonder more than just sit and be entertained.

I've been thinking about buying the Criterion Collection edition of Solaris for some time now. I might get it for Christmas. I remember watching it when I was younger and only being mildly interested in it, but I think if I were to watch it now I'd get something more out of it.

Wait, did you mean to link the imdb page to the 2002 remake? Is that what you watched?

I think the 1972 original directed by Andrei Tarkovsky is way ahead of the remake. That's what I watched.

Yeah, I watched the remake. I've put the original on my "see this eventually" list. I'm expecting to enjoy it. From what I can gather it's totally different.
