Procedure
=========
1. Oil Filter.
-------------------
The oil filter is easily accessible. It is reached from the passenger-side front tire wheel well.
Put the oil pan under the filter.
Use the Oil End Cap wrench on the end of the old filter. Remove.
Clean the mating surface where the new oil filter's seal will contact
Fill the new oil filter with 5w20 motor oil, but not 100% full, so the new oil will not spill out when the new filter is attached.
Connect the new oil filter finger tight. Put a big scratch mark on the oil filter.
Tighten the new oil filter 3/4 to 1 full turn.

2. Motor Oil
------------------
2a.
Put the oil pan under the oil drain bolt.
Using the 17mm wrench, remove the oil drain bolt. Clean it using the rag.

>> NOTE: there is also a metal washer that attaches between the oil pan bolt and the bottom of the engine
>> If you do not see it, most likely it dropped into the oil pan and will have to be fished out using your fingers. Plan to get dirty. (Ask me how I know)

Wait about 5 minutes to let the oil drain into the catch pan.
Clean the metal washer.
Clean the oil drain bolt.
Reinstall the washer on to the oil drain bolt.
Reinstall the oil drain bolt to the bottom of the engine. Do not over tighten, as the threads on the engine are aluminum.

2b.
Remove the oil fill cap on the top of the engine.
Using the oil funnel and tubing, fill the engine with oil, approximately 4quarts.
Run the engine about 30 seconds. Look under the car at the oil filter and oil drain plug, and make sure no oil is leaking.
Let the engine sit for about 5 minutes, for all the oil to drain back into the oil pan.
Check the oil level in the engine using the oil dipstick. Add additional oil, if needed, until the oil level indicates full. Do not overfill.
For my 2011 Honda pilot, the total amount of oil needed was 4.5quarts.

3. Maintenance light reset
--------------------------------------
Turn ignition key to ON, but do _not_ start the car's engine.
Pushing the odometer button briefly, cycle through the screen choices until it shows the Oil Life. In my case it was showing 15% Oil Life.
Push and hold down the odometer button until the maintenance light for about 10seconds. It will then start to have the 'oil change' display blink. Now press down again for about another 10seconds, until the maintenance light  (the yellow wrench light) turns off and the 'oil life' reads 100 percent.

EDIT 2020-12-06

There are times I am unable to break loose and remove the oil filler cap with my hands, due to the angle, lack of hand strength, and such. So, I created a tool to help me get the oil cap loose. I purchased a 1/2" drive 1inch deep socket. It cost under $10 at my local Kragen/O'Reilly auto store. I then used a metal file to create a U-shaped end, that would fit over the oil cap bar, to get it loose.
