Well, to be fair, if he doesn't have electricity, he can't cook. Wendy's has a damn fine dollar menu so as long as he doesn't mind a steady diet of the same damn thing, he can at least stay full.

No, I wish to be unfair to him. It pleases me so.

Oh, in that case, fuck him.

But rich, beefy goodness? Perhaps I am eating at the wrong Wendy's! What alternate reality is this?

Ha ha! Thank you for joining me in my disdain for the poor and helpless!

I wasn't so much attacking him as saying that's it's not a good situation, because he's spending what little money he has on so-so food that's none too good for him if that's all he eats. This can lead to bad health and further depression, etc. etc.

However, I'll grant that, as fast food goes, Wendy's is a damn sight better than McDonald's. Of course, nothing beats the sexy flame-broiled Mack Daddy deliciousness of a Burger King Whopper! Mmmmmm! That's snappingly good cow meat!

I wouldn't be worried about him being distracted by "Lost" since he has no electricity with which to watch it. And if he can find some small pleasure in reading a few pages of a graphic novel before the sun goes down, I don't have a problem with that. There's only so much "focusing" you can do on your problems without going batty. Everyone needs some fluff in their life.

I think he should read Kant while sitting in cold bathwater. This will build character.

"Gets its only warmth from a kerosene heater"? Well, what's the cat, chopped liver?

Reminds me of college in MI. We had an old house with a gas furnace but my room on the second floor, didn't get much heat out of it. At least we did have electricity, so my Mac (purchased with college loan money, and still paying it off now) was usable.

A 20lb propane bottle is around $15.00 around here and a two burner camp stove is $20.00. Can even get one of those little quart size propane bottles for $7.00 and a screw on single burner for $12.00. Enough for a single pot.
