Oh No

Holy Name Cathedral is on fire. Having grown up in the Chicago Archdiocese, I've visited the church many a time, both as a patron and a fan of Chicago architecture. It's a beautiful place. I hate to think about that gorgeous ceiling being burned away.

I've always thought of that as an egregiously ugly piece of architecture. I don't remember the ceiling, though.

One way or another, I'm sorry it's burning.

I like it because it's so goofily and cinematically over-the-top. I love most Gothic Revival architecture, like the Trib Tower for that reason. I expect to look up and see Batman fighting a dragon on top the bell tower.
