I have no idea what she's like as a person, and I haven't read her books or seen her on TV or such like. Regardless, I somehow just know that a few of you literary highbrows are going to say something about how her work is (enter series of negative adjectives here) or that she's an obnoxious interviewee or whatever opinions you've formed about her

Ugh, I am so tired of the idea that the only culture that matters is the one that "represents" or "reflects" what some random reader wants.

Children, listen up: This thing you call "self?" Is shit. That's right. You're not a special little sparkle-pony who deserves to be catered to by the rest of the world. What you think, what you feel, what you believe, what you have experienced -- does not have to be at the center of every fucking piece of art/literature/science/faith/culture that's out there.

Get the fuck over yourselves.
