when I was at Wizard World with Tricia and Henry a few weeks ago, there was a chick dressed in full Slave Leia regalia, sitting at a table with some artist guy who was autographing stuff. I have no idea who he was, but there was a stack of cheapie Dick Tracy yellow fedoras next to him. Anyway, I thought it was amusing because she was obviously totally bored and absentmindedly text-messaging on her cell phone, while all the dudes in line were ogling her.
I always wonder what girls like that get out of attending a comic convention where they know they'll be pawed and drooled over by socially maladjusted freaks. Camaraderie with the other slave Leias?
Also, the idea of slave Leias voluntarily attending a con back when I was a teen? It would have completely blown our minds.
Funny thing, I never got into Slave Leia either, but I really like this Slave Leia phenomenon. Something about these often-nerdy and very awkward comic book girls prancing around in bikinis...
