You Know What I Can't Figure Out

Half of me is a rather refined and friendly individual, the other half is a crude, bitter, and angry jerk.

How to create the final Reese's peanut butter cup of my personality? How? How?

Why do you think it's necessary to meld these two great tastes together? Can they not peacefully coexist? Sometimes life requires the ability to be an angry jerk, sometimes to be refined and friendly. I think keeping both at the ready would be quite valuable.

I believe it involves wrapping yourself in dark, bitter chocolate. As does most personality changes.

Many years ago, a boyfriend presented me with a "Reid-o-Meter" after a particularly harsh fight. (He gave as good as he got, trust me.) Anyway, one end of the spectrum was what he called the ideal me -- smart, witty, kind, creative, etc. The other end was "the Wife of Bath" and included attributes like "pees on God" (now in my LJ interests!)

The problem, of course, was that I viewed the Wife of Bath end of the spectrum as the ideal me.

There is no lesson, really. Just shifting perspectives on an as-needed basis. Humor and wrath both get you through, in my oh-so-vast experience. So I agree with Ms. semibold on this one.
