The thought of yet more angst made me want to avoid reading this, but... Darkury! I cannot say no to this verse!

And once again, you throw a new surprise at me. The thought of her saving Phobos and Deimos, especially when she still can't save Rei or herself, is so unexpected but perfect. Of course they are her strength or downfall. Of course rescuing them is the hope that Rei needs. Of course it's the perfect way to circumvent Beryl's orders.

Ughhhhh and of course she was punished and Nephrite was punished too. My Nephrite. ;___________;

Does it help to know that, like Mercury, Nephrite knew full well there would be some serious consequences when he decided to help? I mean, it still hurt, and while Jadeite and Zoisite tended to Mercury, Kunzite returned to take care of Nephrite, and he's going to be sore for a while, but like Mercury, he felt it was worth it.

I think this is the best chapter yet. I love what you did with the birds, the punishment, the conversation between Jadeite and Mercury at the end, her admission that she doesn't do well interpreting feelings. This is fantastic; I love it when your writing goes dark!
