I share your cynicism about a FIFA led by Sepp Blatter for the past 12 years (not that Havelange before him was any better). The same goes for the London Olympics in 2012. The beneficiaries will not be the British taxpayers who have put up most of the money.

Finnish cities at least used to build new ice hockey stadiums and at the same time kept (and still keep) closing more remote schools...
