THE ROAD - CORMAC McCARTHY

I am not going to write a review about “The Road” as I’m sure that there must be hundreds of reviews floating around about this bleak and forbidding novel. This is the second book of Cormac McCarthy I’ve read and, man oh man, he is not the cheeriest of novelist around. I found it not so much a novel - there wasn't really a plot - as a series of powerful images of decline, horror, and death, like a camera following a badly wounded elephant through the bush until it finally collapses.

It was the only McCarthy I've read so far. I also have his Border Trilogy on Mt TBR, but haven't been in a huge hurry to read it!
