I wouldn't have thought of clipping as a time when I could zone out. I find I really have to keep myself focused or I wind up grabbing a ton of stuff that is in no way relevant to the vid I'm trying to make -- or I get lost in watching the episode and forget that I'm meant to be clipping!
ITA about the gestation period, though. Clipping is a vital part of that.

I had my first play with FCP a few weeks ago, and if I can get a reasonably priced Mac laptop to run it, I'll go my first Apple ever.
