For the benefit of those who are interested in the Life And Work Of Mr John Simm, Actor, I present the following screen captures from "Rumpole of the Bailey, Series 7" in which he essays the part of a juvenile delinquent. They date from 1992, and are vintage example of flippyfloppyhair.

Snipped for pics... )

Wow! I was doing my GCSEs in that year, and all the boys in the school adjoining ours had that hair-cut, whether it suited them or was appropriate for their hair-type or not. Even back then, most of us girls reacted by pointing and laughing...

I had a classmate called Daniel who had *exactly* this hair, but about 5 years earlier.

His craft is chiefly devoted to optimizing the pout at this stage. I don't think there are *any* unpouty frames in this episode.

I did that when I was watching the episode. Turned out the answer was "John Simm".

I initially wondered if it was someone from The Bill.

I did that watching the trailer for Lennon Naked. I felt very silly when I found out the answer.

He's doing his best.

That's Rumpole's jacket you can see in the other two. You can almost *feel* Leo McKern trying to remember his long speeches.
