Last year at Gencon (at the Ram) we sat at the table next to Gary and a bunch of folks that paid to eat dinner with him. And we (the SlugFest crew) probably spoke more with him, than some of the paid guests.

That's awesome. From the times that I saw him, he was always friendly and affable. Like I said, these days I'm mostly LARPing so it's been a while that I've even thought about the good old days of polyhedral dice.

Index cards! We used to use index cards for character sheets and in lieu of minis.
