Hurm.

Dec 08, 2007 00:29

Went up to NH today yesterday for Dungeon which turned into just chatting about the upcoming election. I left thinking that I'm going to buy an Apple notebook and vote for Ron Paul* in the upcoming primary.

Maybe it was the water, or something.

(* My friend, the lovely L., is working for Paul, but the rest of us all talked each other into that

friends, politics

Boy, that coup de grâce has been a long time coming. A store like CompUSA is a good thing because of all of the little shit that comes along with it Best Buy and Circuit City don't cut it and/or are too expensive. The catalog/on-line merchants are still there but you don't get a geeky browsing experience.

My annoyance at the CompUSA droids has mellowed a bit. I can't stand the little blue drones at all.

Me, I like separation between church and state and the woman's right to choose.

I am doing more reading on Ron Paul. L. and the rest of us were talking about all of the GOP candidates Friday* and it really comes down to the least of eight evils this year. I have to go back and look at the church/state separation issues. Certainly he's not talking about it now although there is stuff in his past. There's also the hint of racism, too, which bothers me more.

L., who is female, isn't considering the pro-choice debate to be a vitally important issue this time. (I think she's being naive because there are Supreme Court vacancies to consider, on the other hand, she's less strident about the pro-choice issue than some.)

That said, she and I agree that there are more important things to fix now: re-establishing America's reputation in the world and fiscal health; repairing Georgie's attitude toward regulation and oversight; and, of course, our civil liberties and the environmental threats we face. Paul appears to be on the right side of all of those issues, at least more so than any of the other haters liars GOP ( ... )

If you wish to repair America's reputation on the world stage, nominating a xenophobic isolationist who hates the UN and is another religious loony is -probably- not the best course.

That must have been some strong water. If you're going to buy a new notebook, at least put Linux on it.

Linux is dead to me. I spend too much time at work fixing servers that have been polluted by Linux.

If I buy a system for home, it is to use, not to tinker with endlessly.
