so, i need some advice. have any of you ever been in a fender-bender and needed to call the other party's insurance company, in order to try to get them to pay for your repairs? how should i approach the lovely people on the other end of the line? this is such a yucky situation. i hate calling people.

I'm not really sure how to go about it. I guess you just give the insurance company the amount of the repairs (the reciept and stuff) and they do whatever with it. There might be an actual extension on the phone number for that sort of thing.

Ack! I have no clue. I can barely handle it when my car is acting wonky. Um... I would ask my dad what to do. Maybe your mom or your eric might know... Sorry....

Most of the wrecks I've been in were my own damn fault, but I think I have an idea:
I'm assuming you have the insurance information already. If not, you can get it from the accident report.
You might need to go through your own insurance and have them handle the claim. I'd call them first to see if that's the case.
If you do need to call them yourself, you'll want to copies of all the receipts for repairs and whatever else, maybe a copy of the accident report. When you call, tell them you were in an accident with one of their customers, and you're filing a claim for your damages. They'll either tell you what to do, or direct you to the right department. You'll probably need to mail them copies of the receipts and a bunch of bullshit bureaucracy paperwork.
