Nearly everyone who's off duty is in the courtroom; everyone on duty has probably been glued to the wireless all afternoon. Galactica's halls are close to empty

He'd have given almost anything to have been able to be there to support Felix, but with so many of the senior officers directly involved in the trial, Hoshi had been needed too badly in the CIC to have that window clear.

Now he's just marking the rest of the minutes until he's off-duty. There aren't that many of them left, but they're dragging out endlessly.

His shift doesn't start for an hour yet -- Helo will be acting in the gap between the end of Louis' duty hours and the beginning of Gaeta's -- but if he got out of the trial earlier than expected, he ought to go relieve both of them of duty. It's either that or sit in his rack, or up in the observation deck, or somewhere where he won't have to hear the rest of the trial.

By the time he reaches the CIC, Louis is due to leave his post at any minute. Still, Gaeta hesitates outside; odds are high they're going to have the broadcast playing in there, too. Maybe if he gives himself just a little longer to prepare, he'll be all right.

He finishes his tasks and completes the change of shift process, then walks out the door, already hurrying his steps--

--and practically slams right into Felix.

"Frak -- "

Gaeta already has both hands up to either catch Louis or ward him off, stumbling back a step to keep clear. The instant he realizes who it is, his hands relax back to his sides.

"Frak, sorry," he says, "I didn't mean to -- "
