Some thoughts on excellence.

One of the conversations I had on the weekend was about excellence in the SCA. There were a few comments that Peers have this sort of god-like levels of skill and knowledge that most people could never achieve. I agree with this post. One of the things that I've realised doing ballet, is that to see any significant improvement I need to do at least three classes a week, and now I'm up to four-five classes a week. Compared to that, one class a week for SCA dancing is going to see relatively little progress.

Here, we tend to say, 'One practice a week is maintaining your skill, two practices is improving your skill so you can keep 'your place in the pack' (which is continually improving), three practices a week and you will start to see improvement in your bottom line (win/loss ratio).'
When I was attending 3 practices a week and 3 fighting events a month was the time I was really improving. Need to start doing that again!
