Greetings, my fellow Flaylings! It is I, the Exalted High Panjandram Edwinbashi, with an announcement and a splendid offer.
In an attempt to raise the national budget, reduce needless paraphernalia prior to the National Relocation Project, and bless the rest of the World with our fantastically advanced technologies, the Democratic Republic of Flay will be selling off some of its no-longer used Information Technology infrastructure.
The first item on offer is a classic piece of advanced military-grade technology: a
ZX Spectrum 128k +2. Developed at the climax of the Cold War, this represented for many years the pinnacle of 8-bit military training kit, with combat simulation software such as Operation Thunderbolt, collision-driving emulators such as Chase HQ, and bridge detonation training programmes, such as Arkanoid. This magnificent engine comes with power cable, (possibly defunct) joystick, TV cable and literally over 100 games combat training simulators. List available on request. Will accept any offers, but request pick-up from the current Grand Palatial Residence (N12).
The other item on offer is an
iMac DV Se 400Mhz in graphite , an essential infrastructure device for the fledgeling Nation State. This machine, it must be said, has had a long and strenuous life serving the e-mail, internet, DVD viewing, leisure, writing and musical needs of the DRF. Its hardware, however, has been souped up to meet the rigours of its role: it currently carries a mighty 512Mb of RAM (double what it shipped with), and now has an 80Gb hard drive, instead of the puny 12Gb with which it was built. It runs on Mac OSX 4.2.10 (I think), with a Classic OS9 partition running concurrently. Naturally this hard drive will be wiped before collection in order to protect the official secrets of the DRF. The machine comes with a keyboard, one-button mouse and a four-button mouse, and by my magnanimous grace I will throw in a few games (Future Cop; Duke Nukem 3D; Settlers 2; maybe more) as a sweetener. There is one big downside to this machine: the screen itself has blown, and is only visible if you whack the brightness and contrast up to maximum, so it must be hooked up to a separate monitor to function. I have found, furthermore, that modern screens demand a higher resolution than OS9 seems prepared to offer, and shut down. However, I am a luddite, and am sure that a technologically savvy leader could get more life out of it. Again any offer, no matter how trifling, will be considered, as long as it is picked up from the current GPR. It must be worth something to some of you tech-driven states, if only for spare parts!
Come one, come all! Surely someone is interested in the technological triumphs of the DRF?
