God, I love the way you write them, achy and tender and no happy endings.
And this -
"Not you," Angel says. "Don't take someone else away from me."
Ouch.
I see a lot of fic where Angel just carries on, as though he lost his favorite shirt rather than Cordy and all his family, friends, his son. It should affect him, deeply, everlastingly, and you showed that. I loved it.
But thank you! I also love how you write them, all dark and dangerous and hot!
And I completely agree with you, on Angel feeling the loss. It bothers me when, in a story, Angel hardly reflects on at all on everything he's lost. Those people were his only family for five years. I think that, were he the only one to survive, he would be irreparably damaged by it.
And I'll try and give you more! I actually have an idea for a *dundundun* high school AU. I know, shoot me.
And yeah, I know people like what they like, and hey, more power to them and their fic, but when Angel is written as barely affected by the deaths of his family, I gotta wonder what show they were watching.
samsom pointed me over here. Boy, you weren't kidding when you said you can't give Cordy and Angel a happy ending. *sobbing*
You wrote old school Cordy with no apologies and I think that was appropriate since it was Angel's view of her and he probably subconsciously knew he needed *that* Cordy to kick him in the butt.
I'm with Sam on that moment with Wesley. Hold a grudge much, Angel? :) But, man, you tore my heart out leaving him alone like that even if his actions were what brought him to that point.
I don't know if you're a member of ca_atlast or not, but I wish you'd post your C/A fics there. They're wonderful and we need as many C/A fics in the archive as we can get not to mention get you some widespread love! :D
Thank you thank you! I'm working on giving them a happy ending. I've got two ideas-- the *eek* high school AU I mentioned above and another short little thing-- that aren't quite as depressing as this stuff.
Old school Cordy holds a special place in my heart. And yeah, I think part of her charm is how easy it is for her to kick Angel's ass into gear when he starts giving up. Wesley and Angel have an interesting relationship, too, and I don't think Angel will EVER truly forgive Wesley for taking his son. Nor will Wes ever really forgive himself.
And no, I'm not a member of ca_atlast but any C/A archive sounds wonderful. I'll head over there right now!

I'm not shooting you until you write that.
