Jan 22, 2007 15:05

Parker's whole weekend of weird had culminated Sunday in not only ogling Mr. Phale, having drinks with him, then a dinner with Weiss (Weiss, damnit!) which had shown up Rita's clingy psychotic qualities, but a botched attempt at bank robbery, then getting caught and going to jail.

Don't ask how she got out. Just... don't.

Parker was in a better mood after her outing with Cedric. But nothing could put her in a perfect mood for this phone call.

She glared at the Caller ID. Which remained blank. So...

"I am having a very bad day, Jarod."

"Oh, good. You made it back safely." Not that he'd been worried. You didn't get much safer than the only prisoner in a jail.

"Thank you for bailing me out." Parker paused. "Or whatever you did. Appo wasn't exactly forthcoming."

Could you actually become one with your bedspread through force of will? Parker was willing to try.

"Your bank robbery pretend needs work," he said dryly. "But apparently I make a pretty convincing lawyer."

"I'll bet. How much do I owe you?" Parker drew up her knees and rested her head on them. "I suppose it's too much to ask that you turned into someone weird and slightly evil this weekend too?"

"You don't owe me anything, Parker," Jarod said quietly, almost offended she'd ask. "And I stayed me. Which apparently meant I got accosted by a lot of different women."

"I just meant if...." She paused, not sure how to end that sentence, then grinned at the ensuing mental picture. "Seriously? And how did the fending them off go?"

"I was kissed by a tall blonde in a bright red dress, but I think I may have hurt Lana's feelings."

Parker still found herself grinding her teeth at the idea of random women kissing him, but Lana getting her feelings hurt? Heh. "Lana hit on you? And you rejected her?" Gosh, that was too bad. "She'll probably be apologizing to you, soon."

Jarod was reserving judgment on that. "I owe Jaye an apology, though."

Which was more than slightly flooring, given the number of things he'd never apologized to her for. "What, exactly, do you have to apologize to Jaye for?"

"For kissing someone else? I'm pretty sure I promised I wouldn't." Jarod was getting a little uncomfortable with this entire topic of conversation. He was used to hearing about her life with guys, not talking about his life with girls. For him, it had always been Parker.

"So you kissed Miss Red Dress? And Lana?" Which was just-- odd, the mix of annoyance and glee, and embarassment on the subject, and protectiveness toward him that still welled up. "Or they kissed you? Careful what you confess to there, Jarod."

"I was kissed by the woman in the red dress, but didn't kiss Lana, or get kissed by her."

"Then you have nothing to apologize to Jaye for. Except not fighting them off harder." Should she be glad Jaye had the same problems with him that she did? Or mad that he was cluing in after he'd broken up with her? Was she helping or hurting here? "...but do what you think is best. Of course."

She stared at the ceiling and grimaced, thinking of Weiss. "Good luck, either way. At least you fixed the worst of the consequences of this weekend for me."
