"Oh, of course. Because I always give up sex with the guy I'm seeing when i'm... out in the wilderness?" Parker paused to let that sink in. "What the hell?"
"Momentary loss of sanity, what can I say?" Really it was the only logical explanation. "I don't know. It's partly proving that it's not all physical. And yes, I know it's not. Like I said, insanity. And partly, I don't know, trying to get ready for the fall when we're in different school."
"Right. Because a possible decrease in sex in the future should be dealt with by a definite decrease in sex now," Parker said, disbelieving. "And who cares about degrees of physical? Why must people value the mind over sex? Or the heart over sex? Or anything over sex?"
"I told you. Momentary insanity. And now I'm stuck," she whined. "Because what am I going to say? I'm sorry? I can't live without your loving? Dear god, his ego is healthy enough! I don't need to stroke it like that."
"Mmm, 'kay, that is a genuine concern with Sockboy," Parker admitted. "I am loathe to advise you to use sitcom-level tactics, like snuggling up to him on cold nights, or asking him to put suntan oil on you, or various other things that would lead to him begging you to reconsider the deal... except for how I totally am." She reconsidered. "Only with more finesse. So call it Oscar Wilde-level tactics, not sitcom."
"There is no suntan oil in my foreseeable future. It's freaking cold here!" Isabel was still annoyed about that. "So there'll be snuggling. But that's in our bed. In the cabin. With Bridge within earshot."
"I am not thrilled with spring in Oxford, either." Parker made a face. "That said, you know Bridge will spend half his time over at Xander's. Be sneaky. Or at least sneakier than your boyfriend. That can't be difficult."
Parker may have been remembering a couple blatant moves with Weiss and Jarod and sexy underwear, but possibly they wouldn't be applicable here.
"And you can go back to the dorm for that, although I understand that more planning would be involved," Parker admitted. "Or possibly finding a cool place out in the woods without wood ticks, bugs, too much grass, or freakin' squirrels. Hell, they still found Jarod and I, when were out there camping, damnit."
"Good luck with that." Parker still thought she was crazy, but did understand how you can get yourself in over your head. Ahem.
"I do not miss turning into different things, but I am wishing I didn't still have another three weeks to go at school. And then a summer working here after that." She made a face. "May not see you again 'til August, unless the island moves somewhere close to England... oooo."
"It's always a possibility," Isabel laughed. "Nothing surprises me here anymore. I'm still hoping to get to Black Rock with you. They just haven't said when orientation is."
