Parker sighed, leaning back as she uncovered the hot plates of food. "It still seems like there should be a way around that. You're not worried? At all?"
"What's there to worry about?" Drake said. "It's the next great adventure. And this has been the absolute best year of my life. Wouldn't change a thing."
Drake cracked open the tail of his lobster and dug out a nice chunk of meat. "Smells great," he said, dipping it in butter before popping it in his mouth. "No regrets," he said as he swallowed. "Don't get me wrong, I'd love to live a little longer, but one year was the deal I made."
Parker took a sip of her champagne, fiddling with the flute. "I couldn't do it." She took a bite of her own steak, and pointed her knife at him. "I really hate that you're dying with me owing you the biggest favor ever."
Parker laughed into her champagne glass, eyes sparkling at him. "Seriously? Jarod and I qualify as 'epic'? Did you save any other epic loves this year?"
