Apocalypto

Tonight I went to see Mel Gibson's new film, "Apocalypto". I've been a fan of his ever since I was a child, so despite all of the controversy surrounding his July arrest, I still went out to see his film. I posted my review under the cut so I can save room on everyone's Friends Page, but I promise there are no plot spoilers.

i didnt like it very much, it seemed like it had no plot and wasn't that believable what with jaguar paw getting shot so many times, and plus he ran for like 48 hours straight and it wasn't plausible to me. i'll stick with braveheart. but your review was well written

Yeah, I remember you writing about it in your journal, saying you didn't like it very much. I was hoping you'd comment on my review, though, since I think you are the only person on my FList who has seen it.

I completly agree that it lacked character development and had a very simple plotline, but I don't mind going into a movie every now and then and just enjoy what I see up on the screen. That was the case with this film. I just found it was really exciting. And I think that, more than anything, this was Mel Gibson's intention. I expected thrills and I got them.

I read a good review of it the other day in one of our local entertainment mags. I'd heard of it (especially after his arrest), but I had no idea what it was about until reading that review. Was it exceptionally bloody/violent? I'm OK with violence to an extent, as long as it's not TOO graphic. If there are bones sticking out and eyeballs out of heads, I can't handle that. :-P

Thanks for the review. I'm considering it, but haven't decided yet.

Yeah, it's been getting some mixed reviews. But overall, people seem to see it in a more positive light than "The Passion of the Christ". I'm glad that my review helped you better understand the overall plot. ;)

Have you see "Braveheart" or "The Passion"? If you have than you'll know the type of violence to expect. It's hard for me to judge what you'd be able to handle. I think it's in between those two films. It's bloodier than "Braveheart" but not as relentlessly and uncomfortably violent as "The Passion".

I say, try it. It's an exciting action film, only instead of a fast car it's a fast Mayan running through the wild. lol.
