Movie Moments--Part Eleven

Jul 12, 2007 16:36

We all have a movie that stands out to us as the best experience we ever had in a movie theatre. Most people I've talked to feel that Star Wars or, more recently, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, was their best movie experiences. There are certain films we watch in a darkened cinema that take us away and make us feel like children again. As much I ( Read more... )

I love Jurassic Park. I agree--the movies we watch in childhood always stay with us in the end. I remember my Dad renting Jurassic Park, and watching it, and just being amazed at how real it looked. I love it--along with Catch Me If You Can, it's one of my favourite Spielberg pictures. I'll admit, I haven't seen Indiana Jones yet. I will soon, definitely. <3

The best film experience for me, even to this day, is going with my Mom to see Titanic. I was so engrossed in that movie, and the love story, I was flooding the theatre with tears by the end. It felt so real, and I love it just the same as I used to. It's my comfort movie, and along with American Psycho and The Departed, my favourite movie, ever :) I'm always a little sensitive when it's being made fun of, because for me, it's still pretty magical.

Haha, I'm even listening to the Titanic score now! lol

You really must watch Indiana Jones when you get the chance. My love for it may have a lot to do with the fact that I saw them when I was really young, but they are wonderful films (the first and third ones, anyway).

Titanic was a great movie experience for me. I mean, it's the biggest movie of all time. People are lying when they say they weren't caught up in all the hype. I'm glad I was around for cinema's biggest film. I saw it twice in theatres and I still get teary-eyed watching it to this day. I recently bought the new three disc edition that came out. Although I don't love the film as much as I used to, it's still great and enjoyable. I tend to stick up for it too when people bash it.

Jurassic Park was definitely a defining movie experience for me too! I also remember being really awestruck seeing the Lion King for the first time? Haha. Also - OH MY GOD YOUR ICON. Mind if I steal??

Yeah, I loved The Lion King as well. Did you ever see the musical? I saw it twice when it was here in Toronto. It blew my mind!

Yes, you can use the Indy icon, just check out my icon page to make sure you credit the right girl. :)

Jurassic Park is a classic and I have no shame in saying that. That movie will never get old for me. Unfortunately, its reputation was somewhat ruined by the two horrible sequels.

I need to see an older film like that in a theatre. An ex-boyfriend once took me to see Raiders of the Lost Ark at one of Toronto's oldest theatres. It was a nice surprise. I need to see something like GWTW or a Charlie Chaplin film. Now THAT would be an experience!

holy crap, i was THIS close to seeing JP in the theatre but the sound killed my ears each time. :(

my favourite movie experience would HAVE to be willy wonka though (the original). it was a one time deal and we had to wake up extra early to see the 10 o'clock show. the place was filled with kids but the energy was great, and the feeling of seeing gene wilder on the big screen made me ecstatic. also, i live in indiana where close encounters was filmed and the movie "prancer" right down the street. :P

by the way, do you have aim?

Was it a re-release of the Willy Wonka film? That must have been fun although I haven't seen it in ages.

No, I don't have AIM. Just MSN.

If I were reviewing Jurassic Park today I'd give it a four and a half stars out of five. It's nearly perfect and I don't care what anyone else says. I wouldn't have given you hell for your review. lol ( ... )
