As some of you may have heard already, Sandy died late last night. I take what comfort I can in the fact that she was surrounded by friends and family over the last few weeks, enveloped in as much love as a person can be.
Sandy wasn't religious. I know she lives on in all of our thoughts, and all the many large and small ways she's influenced the people she's met and fandom itself.
I am religious, and I like to think that there's a small part of Sandy that goes on, and that that part finally knows and can accept how much love, joy, and laughter she brought to people, and that people tried to give back to her.
Sandy always wanted a wake, and I think there may be something in the works for both VividCon and Escapade, two cons she very much loved to attend. In addition, her birthday is August 9, and her partner was wanting to do something on that day to celebrate her life. I'd love to see people post stories about her then.
Peace on the road, Sandy.
