Ah the question...mtsilenceSeptember 17 2007, 16:06:02 UTC
The answer is simple, Man the whole of it (being the Hu-Man race) were born namers. If you ask any of the other races, the four legged, the winged, the scaled, the rock, the tree, the water, the fire, the air, they will have no real names for anything, things just are

I work at this. Seems I talked to you about this recently. When I let go of religion and embraced Oneness I found myself almost frantic for a name/title/group to associate myself with. I'm getting better and not needing to be able to say "I'm a __________" but I still find myself surfing the net to find a belief system like mine that I can identify myself with--- something with ist/ism/ian on the end. You know?
I can see...and reminded of that when I am asked about my beliefs. But for me, it just feels natural to respond that I AM. My beliefs encompass so much more than what a title can provide. Food for thought.
Ugh, got a two page letter from my late mother's husband yesterday. He has since remarried and found God. There were words in his letter like, "disturbed by your tarot reading" and "could have planted the seeds of Satan," "been meaning to talk to you, I know you've been wandering and looking for answers," and "but if you've been Baptized then you are his, now and forever." I can't bring myself to read the whole thing, it just hurts my heart. It's sitting her on my desk with the stack of religious cd's he included. Oh, wait, okay, now the cd's are in the trash. I asked him not to send them.
Anyway, I'll wait a few days for the emotions to subside before I write back. I don't wish to debate, just to offer my sincere gratitude that he has found the answers that make sense to him and that I have also found answers that make sene to me and that like him, I am very happy spiritually. Wow, the phone is ringing. It's him. Speak of the devil.

Hi G!
That letter is so intense! I don't understand why people feel the need to force their beliefs onto others. I would have felt completely disrespected and attacked...and not feel the need to justify myself.
My canned response to behavior like this is...that is your reality---and it is not mine.
I hope that you are doing well. I think it's a great idea to wait a little bit before you write back. That is something I practice as well...to try and understand the other person's perspective even though I may not agree with it.
