One might interpret this as a longing to return to traditional Christian spirituality, in spite of the apparent sheep-like attitude attributed to conventional Christians by more intellectual agnostics. Perhaps it is your mother's influence that is encouraging this feeling.

On the other hand, the image of your mother -- I can't remember her face but I get a certain sense of her attitude -- barricading a house against the zombie horde is, well, kind of amusing.

I think it probably has more to do with the fact that a while back I was around people who were cracking jokes about Christ being the first well-documented zombie.

Also, yes: the image of my mother barricading against zombies is pretty funny. :)

Heh. I just meant the vivid dreaming part, not necessarily the zombie part, although zombies have figured in many of my dreams.

Interesting. I've been intensely following the hurricane news reports in the past couple of weeks. I don't live in a hurricane zone, but I have some sort of rapport or sympathy with the residents of those regions. Your dream sounds as if you'd been picking up on people's nightmare-worries about impending hurricanes ... but the dream appeared to you with a more familiar symbolism for you ... as you have apparently written about zombies in the past.
