I'm falling behind on posting

The good news is, I got approved for the house I want to rent starting in April.  I signed the lease on Tuesday, so I will have a home to go to no matter what happens next. I don't know if they spoke to my landlady or not, and I'm honestly not too keen on finding out. It would be a moot point, anyway. The new place is run by a large company, so at ( Read more... )

Can you contact your bank and put a stop on those last two checks? I would. I would trust my bank, and pay whatever small fees they may charge for the stop order, before I'd trust Landlady from Hell.

I am so, so happy to hear you've secured a new place AND get to have a little vacation.

Yes, this. At my bank I think it costs $10 to put a stop payment on a check -- $20 seems worth it at this point.

I'm so relieved you got approved for the new house, thank goodness! Whatever else happens, Horrible Landlady cannot impact your ability to find a new place to live. I hope your experience there is much happier.

Yay for a new place!! I agree with putting a stop payment on those cheques if she doesn't bring them back within a few days.
