Jinki looks over at the pretty boy over by the corner. He's a regular and Jinki'll admit that he has just a tiny, school girl crush over him because he's so gorgeous it takes his breath away. The boy's hair is dyed three different tones of blond, his plump lips are sins, his skin looks milky white with just the right tinge of red ghosting over his cheeks, his charming, chocolatey brown eyes; he's perfect. Jinki rests his chin on his palm and stares, almost creepily, at the boy. And then he sighs because even he himself thinks he's pathetic; he didn't even know the name of the boy (he didn't even know he swung that way) he was crushing on.
The next day when the little bell rings, singing that someone has entered, Jinki smiles a little bit wider and a familiar face pops in the door. Oh, his smile melts Jinki into a puddle of goo and Jinki can't say that he minds (because he doesn't). Jinki blushes a little because the boy with the infectious smile is wearing a v-neck and he notes the little mole right there. He stutters a little when the boy gives his orders and Jinki still doesn't know his name. The next day, his little crush is crushed.
The boy, Jonghyun, he knows now because the girl sitting next to him is whining about her falling grades. And Jonghyun responds, full of love and Jinki's hopes come crashing down to the ground, Easy come, easy go, I guess, he thinks, when his short-lived love comes up to the counters and orders a strawberry smoothie. Jinki pushes the order towards Jonghyun, their fingers brushing, and Jonghyun leaves after asking for an extra straw. She's pretty, Jinki thinks because it's true and then he doesn't feel so hopeless. She has pretty eyes, chubby cheeks that are just begging to be pinched, and she's wearing a head band atop her cute bob, bangs straight. Her laughter is full and genuine, her innocent and playful aura is contagious and then Jinki knows why Jonghyun holds her above everyone else. Taeyeon, let's go! and Jinki thinks their names sound good together.
They come together, hand in hand, everyday after that and Jinki's slowly getting over it, because really, it was just a small infatuation. Besides, his focus is now on a couple. Well, not exactly a couple, yet. Because they've been stealing glances at each other across the store and even Jinki is kinda getting annoyed (even though he does that himself). The girl is about his age and even reminds himself of himself. She trips over nothing, her eyes disappear when she smiles (it brightens up the whole cafe), she has long flowing hair with a blue ribbon clipped on always, and she keeps looking over at the boy that sits across from her on the other side of the cafe. When he caught her looking, she'd blush and turn away. Despite how cool and cocky the boy looks with his long, curly hair tied back in a loose ponytail and his tall, towering height, Jinki laughs to himself every time when he catches him catching her. Because every time, the boy would put a clenched fist to his heart and close his eyes tightly, smiling like he's on top of the world because the girl of his dreams was actually looking at him. Jinki swears to himself that no matter what, he'll get them together.
One day, the chance comes around when the girl's forced to sit at the table next the boy's because someone took her spot. They're both looking down and Jinki knows that there are shy smiles playing on their lips. Jinki reaches for the broom and mutters himself a little fighting! before he leaves his place at the counters and begins sweeping down the aisle. He turns into the girl's table and totally invades her personal bubble. She looks up confused, half a fry in her mouth, and before she can say anything, Jinki sweeps some more. She scoots over to the table over and bumps into a body. She gasps and stutters, S-sorry, and both her and Jinki know it's two octaves higher than her usual voice. Jinki picks up her tray with a smile and puts it onto the boy's table. It's alright, the guy says, heart hammering in his chest, I'm Minho, by the way.
My work here is done, Jinki thinks that he's finally done something right in his life. Still too lost in his own little world that he doesn't see and sweeps the feet of a boy with an eccentric haircut. Reflexively, the boy with half of his head shaved and dyed blonde, lets out a yelp, shooting out his arms and reaches to the person infront of him in the line. The girl whose hair was tied in a ponytail and had legs that went on forever turns around just in time and catches him. Jinki mumbles a half-hearted apology and makes his way back to the counter. The fallen boy picks himself up, straightens himself up and says, Thanks. The girl grins, all sunshine and it makes him all feel all tingly, No problem. She turns back and thinks with all that's in her fragile heart that maybe this is the beginning of something, just maybe, it will be something.
(Jinki gives the last chocolate chip cookie to a little 7 year old girl and he knows that when she grows up, she'll be someone great. He looks up and smiles at the back of Minho leaving with his new found treasure. She trips a little and Minho grabs her arm, warns, Be careful, Eunsook, in his smooth, rumbling voice. She looks up and say thanks, warm bubbles in her chest because Minho's hand slides down, taking her hand. He smiles at her and she blushes and they don't let go. Jinki can only wonder what tomorrow will bring.)
