Monkey Grip (Ken Cameron, 1982) - 7.5/10
Okay, so when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s, Noni Hazlehurst - who stars in this film - was the host of a kids show "Play School" and a lifestyle program "Better Homes & Gardens." Thus, I was totally not mentally or emotionally prepared for seeing her COMPLETELY BUTT NAKED IN THIS FILM! It was kind of ( Read more... )

holy crap, that's one hell of a week! a movie that contains a note about a certain danny, robert redford, dustin hoffman, jimmy stewart and control to boot? did you get the sense of texture i was talking about in my control-spazz? totally random but: ugh, i felt sick when i went to see control and i was really scared i was going to throw up, i feel sorry for the girl who did! tears-wise, i (mostly) managed to contain myself in the theatre but was a wreck when i got home; i think crying hysterically in the theatre (like i did with revenge of the sith, i was chin-wobble-crying) reminds me too much of crying in school.

all the president's men was on telly last week (at 2am - the gods of tv have heard my prayers!) but i've yet to watch it because i'm still hoping a dvd will magically appear. robert redford's hair has convinced me i need to see it a.s.a.p., though - and i really hate myself for saying this but since when does robert redford remind me of brad pitt? i have a huge soft spot for robert redford, i don't know why. have you seen ( ... )

haha i know, i handed my thesis in and just sat on my ass and watched dvds all week, i rule! that's pretty much going to be the next couple of months/years/rest of my life i think. hah.

yes, texture is such a good word to use to describe it actually, all the minute details. i love how you notice those types of things. and little bernard! c'mon, how adorable was he??

he does look like brad pitt in that cap, damnnn! i like brad pitt too though - not in an omg ~~heartthrob~~ way, but i just like most of what he's done. wait, redford & brad pitt were in a film together right? spy game? i haven't seen it though. i am dying to see the way we were, i walk past it all the time at work and think "oh, i'll get it next time" but never do. i will now get it out first thing tomorrow! :D

and dude, ramble away, you know i love it!

texture sounds really pretentious and artsy-fartsy but i loved how three-dimensional the black and white felt. what did you think of annik? that was the only downside to the film for me, i quite liked the actress but the character felt kind of underdeveloped. haha, i don't know about sumner, i was too busy ogling stephen morris in the film. i think i started listening to joy division when i was still at that point where you have to fancy someone//have a favourite in every band you like, ehh.

brad pitt? it's been a bit of an overkill ever since he divorced aniston and got with angelina jolie. i'm tired of hearing him talk about his family, to be honest. haven't seen the ocean's-films yet, though.

pleaaaase let me know exactly what you think of the way we were. i love how it's considered like the ultimate american chick flick (enough for it to be mentioned in 'sex and the city' as a sort of relationship-stereotype) even though it's actually pretty uncomfortable at times :/ still, robert redford's chest hair is a force to be reckoned ( ... )

i thought annik looked stunning, but definitely underdeveloped. it just felt like she was a groupie and that there wasn't much to their relationship. but it being from deborah's point of view probably has something to do with it? maybe, i don't know.

btw, do you know what the song was when annik and ian were talking in a room and everyone else was asleep? i could have sworn it was some bowie, something of low, but i've gone back and listened to it and now i'm not so sure. it's annoying me, and there's no soundtrack listing on imdb yet ( ... )

haha, i'm glad someone else agrees. it seems like everyone in australia loved it and hailed it as the best thing to come out of this country ever.

congratulations on handing it in!! i've got one more essay, 5000 words which i haven't started doing anything for yet and that's it! forever! so close, so close. good luck with it all dude!

Puberty Blues is far too 80's/Australian Stereotype for me to ever watch it again and not feel slightly sick.

Haven't heard the best things about Somersault either.

Seen "Look Both Ways"?
