ITT: STILL A FATTY

Triumphant return from Famine! We drove 1200 miles this week! I just woke up from sleeping all day! Oh no. Another karaoke gong show, another death threat. After the show the guy came up to me and showed me his Twitter comment and said he thought I did a good job and that he would like to be friends. Puzzling ( Read more... )

never have i wanted to shove my face into a piece of bread more than now. I maintain that the clingfilm makes it all the more alluring. it's like awesomeness sealed beneath a shiny exterior... I might need to buy some at school tomorrow.

gods I miss anime collectives. used to be able to just dive into them and sift through all the info and pictures foreverrr. that was how I 'discovered' most of my early favourite series...

I have ended this comment hungry and nostalgic. methinks it be time for homework avoidance and reading about evil mastermind goats trying to bring ruin to humankind. thank you, japan.

I am sorry that I have made you hungry, but I too feel the nostalgia strongly. I have spend an evening listening to music from animes I used to love, and my god the Mamotte Shugogetten OP still kind of rocks. Same with Eva, because the music of Eva was hilariously outdated even in 1994 Japan

I want to make a quis where I ask people to name that series. Kiseki no Umi and Voices and Eva B-sides, I think I will do this.

worry not, I cannot blame food for looking delicious! you are merely doing your duty to the world by sharing the awesomeness.

also: dooo it! they play the eva music in game centres here and blast it out into the street. makes for most excellent window shopping.

This comment makes me sad that our music server died and took all the Kimagure Orange Road music with it.

Fffff the Eva opening, man. The first time I watched Eva was like, "Ooh hey, I hear this series is really amazing and innovative and mindfucky, I bet the opening theme is going to be totally badass like david byrne directed it or--- oh."

I'm with you on the 'kids get off my fucking lawn!' thing. Back in the day when you had to order your fansubs from some sketchy website and your mom thought they were porn and then everyone stopped offering them when a series was licensed and *sigh* I miss it. Anime has turned from a hobby you needed to put effort into, to just being able to download whatever the fuck you want and not care.

Well, it's not really a get off my lawn thing, because good stuff still exists, and I appreciate the strides animation has made with picture quality and sound and acting. But the unity of animufans as fans has defs broken down over the years. We like too many different things, and some of those things are shitty, and that's OK so long as one embraces the shittiness like we did back in the day, but not everyone does. Some dudes -- young AND older fans -- are very serious about their fandom bullshit. And somehow, yeah, it makes the very young people at cons especially douchy and disrespectful and entitled, because they haven't the good old fandom to take root in, and crap is accessible to them to the point of cornucopic overflow, and these assholes set their examples.

There are just too many titles flying fast and furiously at me nowadays that it's hard to figure out what's worth watching or take the energy to try. I'm so behind the times!

So uh, Michiko to Hatchin: are you saying that it's fun despite falling into genre cliches or that it defies them? I'm looking for something new to watch~

You should watch Higashi no Eden now, as it is coming out, and yes also you should watch Mitchiko to Hatchin because yeah, it doesn't really fit into any pigeon hole except "two chicks on a road trip" which is actually a genre
