The tree sculpture marks the grave of Alexander Ptushko, a wonderful director of 60's-era Soviet children's films! Treebeard can be found at the Novodevichy monastery, marking the grave of Alexander Ptushko, a really wonderful 60s and 70s era director of childrens and adventure films! The tree man makes sense If you've seen Ptushko's work, though I am unable to guarantee that he didn't just rip off the ents. International copyright laws back then were like a wild party
