So I've been trying to make an effort for the environment. Such as, where possible avoiding plastic, bags, packaging, pointless landfill plastic items, and synthetic fibres. Where possible ( Read more... )

I'm going to check into where to get those here, thanks for the tip! I hate plastic but it's hard to avoid since they push it on you everywhere. I use re-usable cloth bags for groceries, my drinking straws are glass, and if something is in one of those plastic tubs at the supermarket, I re-use them to grow plant seedlings. Those tubs last for years. Those are just a few of the measures I try to take, but of course I have some crappy habits too; we all do. But I think if we all do a little, it'll have a cumulative impact.

It's a German company, so if you change the language at the top, it resets to Euros and presumably delivery to Germany and the EU.

I have metal straws, including big straws for bubble tea. Last time I bought a bubble tea, I brought my own pewter tankard and my own straw and they put the (cold) tea in that with no problems! All the small things help.

Thanks, I already found them sold by a German company called "Kein Planet B" ("No Planet B") and ordered some. Yes, all the small things help!

I've never heard of those bags before, but I am aware of the microplastics problem from synthetic fabrics... most especially microfleeces are known for it.

Thank you!

These are more expensive than washbags you might find on Amazon, but they are the only ones that I know of that filter microplastics, the other bags are more for protecting clothes and your machine.

It's a German company, and shipping is free within Germany.

Ahh thanks for the tip! I definitely need one or two of these, but now I can't decide if I should just order 4 to get free shipping, and then maybe give away a couple as Christmas gifts or something. :D
Edit: Ok now I actually googled to see if they have resellers in Finland, and I found a few so that I don't have to buy that many and still save, yay!

I've been tempted to order a couple more as gifts, so long as people sodding used them!

Yay for finding a Finnish supplier!

Interesting, how big are those bags? I have just gotten a new washing mashine so that'd be an interesting thing, not fully sure yet how this would work with all the cat hair but I could give it a try :)

It might save your washing machine from cat hair clogging!

I think, if you properly filled the bag, it would fill a normal sized drum nicely. I tried it partially full at the weekend but with cotton sheets outside of the bag and it was fine. (Cotton fibres are not an issue.)

Ahh, nice. The bag in the pic looks so small. I went to the website to have a look, some of the things stated there on how to wash clothes are totally normal to me, I don't know anyone washing at 90° and such, I think a lot has changed already, which is a good thing :) but never enough...
