autumn's bastion

Jan 16, 2010 19:42

The last corner untouched by Sister Winter, the Autumn girl's final bastion, the home she keeps along the river Time. Everything is a thrilling concurrence of light, the colors of summer burnt and fallen to the ground. Leaves coat the river like a blanket of gold and in the crisp air everything is impossibly bright. The gazebo along the banks is old, quaint, its roof long-since been covered in a layer of moss, and weeds and brush crowd around its edges. But it is dry, and it is safe. Large fish swim in circles near to it, waiting for compassionate travels or deer-sweet Lydia to feed them a few crumbs.

This is a place of quiet, only birds sing here, only deer rustle the grass. Lydia's voice is a gentle murmur, almost indistinguishable from the light shake of leaves, and the crystal purl of the lazy river. My time has ended, but I am not powerless yet. Bring me your hurts, little ones, and I will protect you. Here, the animosity between her siblings comes to an end. The Burning Path stands at the crook of the river in solemn silence. Blizzardseason dances on light feet across the water to where Jalel waits on the far shore. Reposing Spring lazes against a nearby tree. And then they are gone. Leaving Lydia's sanctuary to quiet and peace once more.

[[ooc; if you want A Season and/or Jalel in particular just tell me, otherwise it's a grab bag 8V]]
